In 1992, Nike put together a hybridized Air Max silhouette that saw the upper of the Air Max 1 placed atop the sole unit of the Air Max 90. Back then consumer interest for this Frankenstein of a shoe was not that high, but now, as the fusion aesthetic has been gaining momentum, the Air Max 90/1 back. Releasing in an OG-inspired “University Red” color scheme back in June, we now have an on-foot shot of an upcoming version of the same sneaker done up in Purple Suede. Its Air Max 1 upper sports a nearly tonal aesthetic that is broken up only by the presence of a black midfoot Swoosh as well as a matching Nike Air heel stamp. For contrast, the Beaverton Brand calls upon a creamy sail hue to be added to its AM90 sole unit.
