Man exonerated after decadelong incarceration for robbery

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man incarcerated for 11 years for an armed robbery he acknowledged he didn’t commit has been found innocent by a 3-decide panel.

The Charlotte Observer cites a North Carolina Administrative Space of job of the Courts begin pronouncing the panel unanimously concluded Friday that 32-one year-former Israel Grant proved his innocence. Grant is the 11th person exonerated after an investigation by the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Rate, which started running in 2007.

The charges in opposition to Grant stemmed from an alleged robbery of a person and a lady in 2005. The person identified Grant from a police lineup of photographs. He became as soon as jailed till his 2007 trial. Rate investigators later found evidence the man and girl knew Grant and can hang to quiet need had other motives for figuring out him.

Grant became as soon as paroled in 2016.
